Who Is Melissa Edwards???

Hello! My name is Melissa.  I am married to Jeremy (maybe you’ve already read his Bio).  We've been married for almost 11 years. This is the second year that I've worked for Edwards Pools.  I first helped in the office on occasion. I now work part time in the office during the Spring and Summer months.

A Little Bit About Me

Something interesting about me is that I have a twin sister.  We were raised by two wonderful parents.  My twin is my only sibling (By the way, we look NOTHING alike). It really is a special thing to share your Birthday with someone else.  The funny thing is that my husband is also a twin.

I grew up in a Christian home.  My sister and I went to public school through 4th grade.  We spent the remainder of our school years in a private Christian school(Go Eagles!!!!)

When I was fifteen, I met the man of my dreams (aka Jeremy).  Oh how young I was!!!  I still remember the night that we met.  We were at a church service.  After the service my Mom’s friend introduced us to each other.  I remember that Jeremy was sooooo shy!  We exchanged phone numbers and ……….the rest is history!

I’ve always enjoyed singing and playing the piano. While growing up I enjoyed singing in the church youth/adult choirs.  I also was very involved in music at my high school.  One of the best experiences I had was to be able to sing on two live recordings with our church choir.  That was so fun!  I even gave piano lessons for a while.  I also enjoyed doing the music at several youth camps.

Upon graduating high school, I decided to pursue a degree in music education. I was accepted into Ohio State University and began going to college.  After enrolling, I decided to change my major to Elementary education.

I married Jeremy almost a year after high school graduation. I was nineteen almost 20.  Wow!!! We really were so young.  I had just begun college.  Being newly married made staying in college very difficult.  Plus, Jeremy and I had decided that whenever we started our family that I would be a stay-at-home Mom.  So, I ended up only going to OSU for one year (I hope to go back someday).

When Jeremy and I were dating/engaged, we had talked about someday adopting a child.  Well that someday came after just a few years of marriage.

My Aunt and Uncle had been fostering a beautiful little girl named Trisha.  She was in need of a permanent home.  We fell in love with her from the moment we first met.  This began the pursuit of our foster to adopt  license.

We obtained our foster /adoption license in 2004.  By May of 2005, Trisha would forever be an Edwards!  We fostered several other children.  One of those children was Hunter.  Almost a year to the day of Hunter being in our home, we adopted him too!!!!

Our kids are now 10 and 8 and full of life (Whew….I wish I had their energy).  We absolutely love our kids.  We truly are blessed.

Work History

Before adopting our kids, I did have a couple of different jobs.  I have always loved children, so I worked for a while at a daycare center.  I was the lead teacher in the 3 year old class.  We did so many fun things!  We had lesson plans for our day.  My favorite part was all of the fun crafts and artwork that I did with the children.

I will never forget that I was working at the daycare on 9/11 2001 when the terrorists struck the twin towers.  I remember wanting to hold all of the children to let them know they were going to be ok.  It’s funny how even 3 year olds who didn’t understand what was going on felt the fear and sadness of that day.

Jeremy and I lived in Illinois for a while.  After coming back home, I took a job as a hostess for the Olive Garden Restaurant.  I really liked it there.  I enjoyed talking with the guests that came into the restaurant.  It always made my day to see that customers left happy.  It really was a fun place to work.

I recently worked for a bank as a call center rep.  I really enjoyed it there, but missed the flexibility of being home for my kids.

I’ve also had two at-home-businesses.  I was a consultant with the Longaberger basket company as well as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.

When I'm not working for Edwards Pools, I also work part time for a wonderful Pre-school in our town. It is such a fun place! The children are so sweet. I work with three amazing teachers.

Other Areas of Interest

I've really enjoyed volunteering at my kids Elementary school.  I’ve had the pleasure of accompanying them on field trips and being there to help with school parties.  The kids are so fun to be around.

I love , love , love my family.  They are everything to me!  Time goes by so fast.  So, I’m just taking in all that I can.

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about me.  I look forward to talking with you when you call Edwards Pools!  Blessings to you!
