Above Ground Pool Pricing In Central Ohio. How Much Can I Expect To Pay?
Posted by Nathan Edwards
Looking for an aboveground pool for the kids to be able to swim? Want to be able to stay at home through the summer and have something for the kids to do? Many people we talk to are looking for a pool for the kids to swim but do not have, or do not want to spend the money for an in ground pool. Granted aboveground pools have a bad rap in most peoples mind but the purpose of this blog is to discuss costs, not the good or bad of aboveground pools so here we go.
There are typically going to be two components to an aboveground pool purchase that you will look at.
The Pool Kit.
When you start looking for an aboveground you are looking for the size pool you want and shape. Aboveground pools come in two shapes, round and oval. Lots of choices huh? Most people will go with a round pool because of cost. Ovals will cost more because they do have more structural components that are designed to hold the walls on the straight sides. Although there can be variations most aboveground kits will include the pool, a filter system, standard ladder and liner. Pricing will range from $2800 to $6200 depending on the size and shape you choose.
Installation costs.
After you decide on the pool kit you want the next thing will be the install of that pool. You can decide to do the install yourself. A few people decide to go this route and do a fine job. The majority of people though will opt for a professional installation through the company they purchase the kit through. A couple of factors can affect the install cost such as access to the site, and how much digging has to be done to level the ground where the pool is going. Typical install costs will be $1155 to $1905.
Like any thing else there are options that you can add to aboveground pools that will affect the price.
- Heaters. To be honest this is not one that the average person is looking to do. But if you are most heaters not including gas or electrical hookup, will be $1800 to $3000.
- Main drain or bottom drain installation. This is one that we recommend because of the maintenance issues that it helps with. Cost - $445
- Lighting. Most lights for abovegrounds will be in the $95 to $175 range
So there you have it. Most aboveground pools will be in $3900 to $8100 range with kit and installation. The biggest issue that we see that can affect these parameters is the slope in a yard. If the spot where you think you want to put your pool is more that 30 inches out of level, I would highly suggest having a professional look at it to discuss options.
Last thing I want to mention here is if you are looking to buy an aboveground kit from a pool company and they do not offer installation either in house, or through a sub contractor, I would be a little leery. If they are a pool company I would think they should at least be able to install there own product. Just my opinion, but I would not buy windows for my house from a company that will sell me the windows but tells me good luck on finding somebody to install them.
